Lisa took her legal education on quite the rollercoaster ride, mixing legal theory with real-world antics! In her final year, she jumped into a year-long honours course called Clinical Law—because who wouldn’t want to sound fancy? She spent her time at the Campus Law Clinic, consulting clients who were often in a bit of a pickle, usually those who could use a legal superhero. After all, community needs someone to save the day, one legal consultation at a time!

Lisa dove headfirst into advocate training, like a fish out of water—except she had a senior advocate to keep afloat! Throughout the year, she was under the watchful eye of her mentor, up wisdom like a sponge at a water park. She attended riveting academic lectures from other advocates, and in June/July 2008, she bravely faced the Trial Examinations—think of it as her legal rite of passage. Spoiler alert: she passed and gained a Provisional Practice Certificate, which meant she could dip her toes into the legal waters under her senior advocate's watchful gaze. In July 2008, she officially became an advocate—cue the confetti!
But the fun didn’t stop there! Lisa jumped into the National Bar Examination in August/ 2008, tackled some supplementary oral exams, and even showed off her skills in a high-stakes advocacy case at the Durban High Court. By the end of 2008, had completed all her training, and in January 2009, she strutted into full practice at the Durban Bar, living the legal dream until June 2010! What a ride!
